Re: Jewish markers with Iberian background
Dear Linda, Thank you for asking about the mix of Jewish individuals cited in the population referenced. I found that the Jewish population data represent DNA samples from 124 Jewish individuals in the collection of The National Laboratory for the Genetics of Israeli Populations, at Tel-Aviv Univers...

Re: Lake Baikal Gene
Good evening, Raven,
I suggest you try an Internet search for other scientific articles. I found this one: http://dienekes.blogspot.com/2005/12/mt ... -lake.html .

Re: Genetics of the Rom
One possible explanation is that you got Romani from your mother's father or your father's mother. The haplogoup tests don't cross gender boundaries.
Hope this helps.

Re: Similar Markers in Middle Eastern Populations
Raven, Present-day populations, those within the past few generations, carry genetic markers from ancestral populations. That your mostly-Lebanese grandfather's DNA shows some matches to markers in modern Native American populations may seem odd at first glance, but if we think about it, modern Nati...
Re: Markers
Raven,
That 80 percent applies to all populations, however.
That 80 percent applies to all populations, however.
Re: Markers
Raven,
Most people (80%) get these markers. That means it is possible to still get this ancestry if you have rare alleles that do not match others. The strongest indication of any ancestry is it match a specific population.
Hope this explains for you,
Jakay

Re: Gedmatch matches....
We have no problem with your doing this; however, you cannot compare your results from our DNA Plus with Gedmatch as that is a genealogy program, so it it is like comparing apples and oranges. Also, you cannot compare your results with other DNA tests from other companies as we use both a different ...

Re: Missing alleles?
If only one allele is listed, that means both alleles are the same. For instance: "D3S1358 15 16" means one allele measured 15 and the other 16; "D3S1358 15 " means both alleles measured 15. The lab just doesn't repeat identical alleles. Many lab reports have one or two, sometime...

Re: Brazilian Amazon matches
These populations include DNA from all three so, yes, you can infer the Native as well as the admixtures of European and African.

Re: Brazilian Amazon matches
It basically boils down to geography: which of two Brazilian states you're from. Belem Amazonians are from the northeast state of Para, that holds the mouth of the Amazon and has an Atlantic coast. Brazilian Amazons are from the northern, inland state of Amazona. According to a 2015 autosomal study ...
