Re: Blessed

Happy for you. I completely agree with your assessment of DNA Consultants as compared to other “mainstream” dna testing companies. In my Melungeon report I have: Melungeon (n=40) at number 1 Native American - Lumbee (n=106) at number 3 US Cherokee admixed (n=62) at number 9 Blessings to you in your ...

Re: 5 Rare Genes

Marcia, I have had my mother mtdna tested here. I think I may do the rare genes for her to try and narrow down what rare genes I may have that she has. My father is no longer living so thats not an option for me. I had thought the Europa gene would show up in my results but did not. Thank you for yo...

Rhineland Palatine yDna

I have spent the last few years researching my paternal line and am at a brick wall at my earliest known paternal ancestor. Michael Swink b. 1725 Palatinate d. 1781 Rowan Co. North Carolina. Our family genealogist has spent the last 40 or so years researching the Swink, Swank, and Schwenk lines of P...

Re: Chroniclers Reveal Who and Why in India

This is most interesting. Thank you for sharing this. I do have Scinti on my Rare Genes results. What I also find interesting with this article is the mention of Nepal as I come up with small amounts of Indo Tibetan on Gedmatch calculators.

Re: Jews and Muslims in British Colonial America: A Genealogical History

I too have found many Quakers in a couple of my lines on my fathers side. I have a Lydia Veatch b 1784 Maryland married to a Levi Jones in my lines. This Veatch line seems to go back as far as I can find to Scotland 1500’s to a Malcom Vietch Muirdean. I see variances in the Veatch name in Scotland 1...

Thank you for sharing this surname list. I have more than a handful of these in my tree. However one is of particular interest for me. I have Scinti in my rare genes and Slovakia in my Mega Popultions. My mothers mother was born a Rawlings born in Barton Co., Missouri. I can only trace the Rawlings ...

5 Rare Genes

I received my Rare Genes results the other day. I was a little surprised. But after researching into my family trees, genetic testing, family pictures, as well as the results from my Melungeon test it all seems to make sense. I received: Scythian Thuya Akhenaten Khoisan Sinti It appears I received o...

Re: Viking DNA?

Very interesting thought on the “false positive”. As myheritage and 23andme give me 14% Scandinavian. And in my Gedmatch proprtion on Eurogenes K36 I show a large porportion of Finnoscandian across almost all of my chromosomes.
