Re: Do I have Cherokee Ancestry?
Thanks Sue! It was number 14 and Belem Amazonians number 8. I read your post about the wild potato clan and South America which I think might explain the Belem match. Also I think my Mexican matches might be explained by the article you posted. Angorday2, There were actually no family stories of bei...

Re: Do I have Cherokee Ancestry?
Does a positive match to Cherokee admixed definitely confirm ancestry? I don't have a paper trail and there are many holes in my genealogy. I recently found out through my mother's test that both of her parents were Native American.

Re: Guatemalan Mestizo
Thanks for the additional information. Since I only received 1 NA marker from one parent and my mother did not receive a match to this population ( we both received a match to Cherokee admixed and Native American Florida) does this mean that my ancestry is coming from my father? Is it possible for a...

Re: Guatemalan Mestizo
Thanks for the additional information DJ. I'm wondering if this explains my match to Puerto Rican Massachusetts. Do you think it could also explain my high match to Brazilian Belem Amazonians?

Re: Jewish markers with Iberian background
Hi Teresa, I have had the same experience. I was told on my father's side that I was German and Irish but recently discovered that my father's side is actually Jewish, possibly Spanish Jews. On my test Jewish was number 4 and Spanish-Majorcan was number five. I connected with some ancestors on ances...

Re: What should I do?
Hi Bailey. I'm glad you received a positive result. If you don't mind me asking what was your ranking? I'm curious because mine did not say probable but it also didn't say significant amount. I feel the same way as you. I cannot afford an expert to help me research this. I'm not trying to join a tri...

Re: Cherokee DNA Match Help
Hi Bailey. The test stated that it could be inferred that Cherokee heritage is strong. Because I had no knowledge of Native American ancestry prior to this, I can't determine if my DNA is simply similar to Cherokees. I am from Pennsylvania and I don't believe there were a lot of Cherokees but I'm su...

Re: Cherokee DNA Match Help
I took the special Cherokee match and received a match to the population as number 14. I was also wondering if it truly confirms the ancestry since it is based on studies of Cherokee DNA. I also received a match to Native American Florida but it seems my Native American type of DNA is more common in...

Hi Sue,
This is meg82. I had to re-register and change my username when everything got deleted due to all of the spam. I had my test completed last July.
