Re: Rhineland Palatine yDna

When I saw the R-M269 looked familiar went and looked at dad and my brother. They have their Y info from 23andme. Both show a different sub clade under R-M269 (they are father and son, I guess just my brother they gave a sub clade lower? Or changed their mind on that. Not the same surname as your fa...

Re: Jews and Muslims in British Colonial America: A Genealogical History

Hello Christopher, Wow, small world, we are some sort of distant cousin then as to my knowledge all the Veatchs/Veitchs in the US are all descended from James "the Sheriff" Veitch who immigrated from Scotland to Maryland in like 1651. At some point part of the family kept the Veitch spelli...

Re: 5 Rare Genes

Interesting, I am pretty clueless though I could get my dad tested sometime since he is still living. I had King Tut, AmerInd (presume mom since was supposed to be side Native is on), Khoisan, Rain Goddess Europa and Yellow Emperor (maybe dad, the Germanic I would think Mongol related perhaps?)... M...

Re: Cherokee and Michigan Native American Links?

Hello Shari, The DNA Consultants page on the Cherokee indicates Mohawk as related. Now I see Black Dutch here too... Grandma on dad's side said we have Black Dutch. Related Ethnic Groups Catawba Indians, Cheraw Indians, Tuscarora Indians, Sephardic Jews, Ashkenazi Jews, Ottoman Turks, Greeks, Egypti...

Professional genealogy help?

Has anyone used a professional to help try to figure out your genealogy instead of going it on your own on ancestry.com etc.? I feel like most is probably right but there are some rabbit holes and dead ends that I would like to break through. Someone who would perhaps know the right sources to go to...

Re: Wayne Co KY Cherokees

I don't know where mine originated, and I somehow have the US Cherokee Enrolled at #1 on my top 50. I have a lot of family members showing as born in Kentucky but not Wayne but rather Barren, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Green and Montgomery Counties, some no listing exactly where. I have a dead end her ...

Re: Melungeon Allele

Nice to see you JanRavenspirit. :) ... I have a great aunt who when she was young looked quite a lot like the Armenian woman 3rd photo. Armenian was 3rd on my megapopulations.

Thanks! Yep....I'm still trying to figure that one out, unless the Armenian is in fact- Cherokee!

Re: Jews and Muslims in British Colonial America: A Genealogical History

Hi Lindsey. It is interesting. A direct relative is named among possible Maryland crypto Jews or Muslims. Elias Amos Veatch is my 4th Great Grandfather. The name is different and is variant of French for cow Vache, which the Spanish Vaca/Baca is said to be crypto Jewish. Still I think more likely hi...

Re: Possible False Hispanic match if you have NA ancestry

Hello Teresa. I suspect mine are false due to this- I have two Native (Cherokee and Native FL population) in top 5 then I did have Portuguese at #8 and 9, Iberian Andalusian at #2, then Brazilian pops in there at #6 and several of those and other Hispanic scattered. Green dots on map over much of Ce...

Re: Jews and Muslims in British Colonial America: A Genealogical History

I am reading the book, still looking around and trying to complete my genealogy. I had one Jewish III and two Jewish IV markers so I think those tend more to Turkish or middle eastern? My sister not done this test but she has shown Ashkenazi Jewish on some tests.
