Re: Melungeon test
I checked, and Melungeon is one of the 450 specific populations you can potentially match dependent on the strength of your DNA to that population. Jakay

Re: Jewish markers with Iberian background
Good afternoon, Tina, I understand being new to the forum. So am I, and at this point, I don't analyze reports. You can call DNA Consultants at 888-806-2588 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mountain Time on Monday through Friday and speak with Teresa Panther-Yates or Dr. Donald Yates to help you interpret you...

Re: I'm trying to gain a better understanding
Good day, Finding out which ancestor has Native roots is through genealogy not DNA. However that is not always possible because it could be deep ancestry or an American Indian tribe that was wiped out or not enough information can be found concerning your ancestral lines for one reason or another. Y...

Re: Jewish markers with Iberian background
Good day,
All reports have a key to the markers for additional information, and that's all I have. Jewish I is considered too admixed to determine. Jewish II is most closely linked with Ashkenazi and is relatively rare. Jewish III is most closely linked with Sephardic Jewish.
Hope this helps,
Jakay

Re: Cherokee's in Mexico
I'm one of the many who did not know this. We learned about the Trail of Tears in elementary school, but not all its ramifications. We learned many settled in Oklahoma and some stayed behind if they could, but not where else their descendants went.

Thanks for posting this article. With my mother's people from Tennessee, albeit Middle Tennessee, I find the story fascinating.

Re: Are you related to King Tut?
In a round-about way: I've got a Thuya marker, which I understand is from King Tut's great-grandmother. I've also got First Peoples, Empire and Yellow Emperor markers. Apparently, my ancestors traveled the world a bit. I look forward to finding out more with other tests and research.

Re: Upgrades & new matches
We are now at atDNA 7.0, which was released in June 2015, with 451 populations. If your report is more than three years old it would be worthwhile to update, particularly since our new EURO method was included in all reports after that and is far superior to previous EURO results.
