Re: Do I have Cherokee Ancestry?
Raven, I think I replied to your question but just in case I didn't- if Cherokee Admixed showed up in your top 50 populations, you definitely have some Cherokee in your ancestry.

Re: Guatemalan Mestizo
According to Dr. Yates' book "Cherokee Clans" there is a clan called Wild Potato that may reflect travels of Cherokee in South America. There is also some evidence that Cherokee fled from Texas into Mexico in the 1830s after an assault on their village. http://cherokeenationofsequoyah.com/...

Re: Native American - Choles - Chiapas Mexico
There is an interesting article about Chiapas at http://www.houstonculture.org/mexico/chiapas.html. In it, I read that while Chiapas is in the Mayan area, the Chiapas are a separate culture from the Mayan, who were Guatamalan. I am continuing to research your post- hope this helps for now.

Jewish markers with Iberian background
Most of us think of Iberia (Spain and Portugal) as being Christian countries, so having Jewish markers doesn't make sense. In order to understand, you have to go back over 500 years to the days of the Spanish Inquisition. The Inquisition was established to preserve Christianity by killing heretics, ...
