GA Loyalists were given 6 months to settle their business affairs. Lachlan had already transferred Vale Royal to his cousin John McGillivray in Sep 1781. He sailed for England May 1782. On May 4, his estates were confiscated by the Georgia General Assembly. He was fourth on the list. John McGillivery was 96 and among
the last loyalists to leave GA. With Gov Wright he sailed for Jamaica April 8, 1783. This ended Lachlan dream
of establishing the clan in GA 22
Many Georgians resettled in British East Florida , West Fl later Natchez 1798, and Mobile til 1819

1789 A North Carolina land grant of 630 acres in Davidson Co TN on the south side of the Cumberland River was assigned to John Donelson by the Heirs of Arthur Carney (Listed KERNEY in W. DJt’s note This is not the Arthur m Mary White in AR Relationship not known, however, note John Donelson was one of the Founders of Nashville, one of the Banished loyalists from GA, as was Arthur Jr, his Fathers Arthur Sr land in GA was confiscated in 1783. Arthur Sr was prob also a land owner in NC as he was a Trader, there was Trade in Nashville, We Need to find if this original deed lists the names of the Kerney Heirs, Could this perhaps relate to John Carney in Davidson, TN be his Father, This would finally give us the piece to connect Jerry Kerneys father Arthur Jr, and circumstancial relationshisps we know of to Sally and Ikenaby John Carney, , All these guys in Nashville were intriguing with the Spanish during the war, and trading, some on the trace leading to Natchez and other connections with Gibson and Cooper in GA, TN, Natchez as well

One conclusion, I've been thinking about upon reviewing my collection of notebooks is that Arthur Carney isn't the Father of Carney in TN, but is of Choctaw Carney as Trader, they are related to the lineage though, John Carney is top of the TN Carney, MS Carney, AL Carney. AL Carney John Carney and Mary A married in Maury County T.n, were in MS moved to Washing County, AL part Choctaw County AL by 1850. The MS Carney have oral tradition that their line is Ikenaby John Carney and Sally. Sally was an "Orphan" taken in by TN Carney. I think somewhere along the line Sally last name was handed down as Carney before marriage, however Ikenaby took the name of John Carney when he .moved to MS according to June, he became John Jr, then John Sr when he had a son John.then down the line there is a son John each generation. There's nobody named Arthur.
At After MS Choctaw removals a Treaty was made where Choctaw could become citizens but had to give up Indian Ways. Which we lost, but was remembered by the elders, details can get fuzzy, but Hese are consistent with
"The name John goes way back"
"John was Choctaw"
"Ikenaby registered to become a citizen if M.s"
Iklanabbee
Wards Register (reg of Choctaw wishing to become citizens according to 1830 Treaty May 1831 Iklanabbee - children under 10 none over 10 3

Official spelling of Ikenaby on Choctaw record
Iklanabbee : Ik lan abbee. Ik lan abi
Fr
Itiibapishi toba (to become brother or sister) and Issish iklanna (Literally "Half blood" )
Iksa Clan
Abi to kill or loosely Warrior

According to
Choctaws in a Revolutionary Age by Greg Obrien

Ikenaby is the way name appears in Article MS newspaper and handed down in genealogy by Rials family , granddaughter of IK Sally who married Moses Rial.
Tilton, MS relatives say he changed name to John when he Ikenaby married Sally ? Orphan taken in by TN Carney

So, the translation of his name
Ikenaby is literally a half blood Warrior John Carney
It was customary for a Choctaw to change or be given other names to commemorate an important event.

Iilanubbee, Warrior with Pusmataha at War of 1812

John Kearney Sr, of Davidson County, TN was in the regiment Crockett in Militia of George Rogers Clark
He was in Kaskaskia
Took Oath of Allegiance 1780 at Mobile
Was in Natchez. West Florida rebellion sent residents back up the trace to Davidson TN, John Turnbull and John Turner 1810 John Sr
Was in Sumner County by 1830 as John Jr buying selling Land with William and Elijah Carney (June Pollard)
In Marion MS Census as John Sr with son John m Mary A Simmons
Etc

Ikenaby married
"Sallee was an orphan taken in by TN Cousins" took name of John Carney
People have taken that to be Sally last name Carney

"Jerry was a cousin" signed the Treaty of Doak with Capt Red Bird and Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek.

John was in Spanish Mobile 1780 and traded in Natchez, 1799, 1800, McFarland, Panton,Forbes, Mather and Strother, Arthur in With Choctaw 1783, 1787, 1796,1799 in Natchez
Went from there to TN.
William of Georgia was Trader with John Turnbull left estate to nephews Arthur Carney Choctaw and William of GA. William Carney of GA early settler of St Mary's River, Fernandina GA.
Some descendants in FL.
Arthur's descendants among Choctaw in OK and some in AR.
Thomas Carney traded in Spanish Fl. Was settler in Wautaga m Washington County, TN
Some Carney in AL say "Thomas is progeny. I haven't found absolutely proof, however, the DNA tests show that, Thomas Carney of Davidson , TN,
John, William, Elijah, Vincent Carney of Davidson TN
John Carney of Marion County, MS and J
John Carney of Cho County, Al, King Hiriam Carney, John W Carney match marker 0-1 distance depending on number of test markers.
Thomas Carney of MD traded among the Delaware Indians, came with John Dobelson, from M.d to Wautaga. The heirs of Arthur Carney sold land to John Donelson, I don't have Deed need. James Robertson, John Turner, Arthur Carney kinda hang together in various records from being loyalist banned from GAm business of West Fl. Etc.
That's what we need to work on and quit mixing the lines up. It's been a long puzzle, there's more to find now there's more on the net,
Also, DNA of .kt Richard Carney whose descendants cone into AL also Do Not Natch.
Let Richard line says they are Carney from William Carney of Lower Norfolk.
Thomas Carney was from Sonerset MD, previously Manakin, a purveyor of the French Huguenots, som that is "Jerry said his father came in with French in 1731Through an Interpreter. "
There are a number of French Huguenot families in the family, Bonner, Jones, Jorda, Dupree (French Royals" From NC to AL and Indian Tribes from VA early settlements. That's probably why we can't connect all the Carney directly as some lines come through females.
Carney is in the earliest lists of Melungeon

I have other research and directly related families around these families and other
Relatives from the Northern Neck of VA. Understanding this area is the migration from MD went to NN Old Rappahanock, Essex, Richmond county in period.

Old Somerset on the Eastern Shore of MD by Torrence Regional Pub Co. p275. The County of Northampton otherwise called Accomack in Virginia " gave to Maryland the first Settlers for the section of " the Eastern Shore below Choptank River " from whose southernmost area(south Nanticoke River) the County of Somerset was erected in August 1666. The section of Virginia from which these founders of Somerset came was immediately South of the Maryland and Virginia Boundary Line on the "Eastern Shore" Northampton otherwise called Accomack (Eastern Shore Indians same name according to Helen Roundtree)

One of our Sponsors June Pollard Passed a few years ago. Other members have had medical issues and computer -Internet issues. Some causing a loss of email addresses for contact and computer upgrade problems. I have been reviewing and reconstructing data from paper and databases.

The participants of this project tested John Carney in TN 1786 Sumner County, then Davidson County, TN sons William, Elijah, Vincent, John Carney Died in MS aka John Carney Jr. Of TN, son John Carney married Mary A. Simmons, Maury County, TN. , son John Carney married Sarah Cox, and 2 of their children. All these families are related . June Pollard of Davidson County TN, research this family over 30 years, I have going on 18, there is no indication that a Choctaw lineage is in this particular lineage. We still need to find a particular to test from the Jerry Kearney son of Arthur Carney trader and Hoke. Hoke also joined with Louis Lafleur and had 2 daughter I can prove. There is a long standing Oral Tradition that the Carneys and Lafleurs came in with the French Military, in 1731. Actually that is earlier perhaps.
There are numerous Choctaw Carneys that we can't connect to ours in records, but welcome any to take the Y test. @37 markers or more.
We also compared results to Thomas Carney of MO. They match Davidson, TN John Carney.
We compared results in the project to a descendent of Lt. Richard Carney , and William Carney Emigrated in VA. They do not match.

I saw a wiki Tree that referenced this project DNA tested to Carney of TN, listing
The TN Carney as son of Samuel Carney of Amelia, Orangeburgh, TN. To my knowledge that line isn't tested, at any rate not by this project, not listed in Y search, and if you have results, please share here. To say it was tested in conjunction with this project is spreading misinformation.
My research shows, there are 2 John Carney died in St. Phillips Parish SC 1739 & 1742.
Traditional research Path of VA, SC, NC/TN is not applying in our case .
Mixing up all the popul Names John Carney is a problem

June Pollard said, by there tradition they came to TN the Southern Way to avoid the Mountains. That would be the Mississippi Territory which is very complicated research through French and Spanish Records.

Any Carneys that would like to share results here feel free.

Carneys are considered Melungeon and that is also not tradition research.

I have not drawn or published my final conclusion on this project hoping to get results of above mention.
