Lake Baikal Gene

I received my rare genes from history results and had the Lake Baikal gene. Is this referring to Native American ancestry or could it be Asian ancestry? I also received the Amerind gene. In my fingerprint report I received an Asian lll marker and number 2 was indo-mongoloid Naga. Is the gene showing up due to that population or is that population possibly a false positive? I also received an Asian one marker and a Native American 2 marker. Since my mom did not receive the lake Baikal gene or Asian lll marker along with matches to Mongolia and Southeast Asia, I have concluded that this is all coming from my father. I also have more Hispanic matches and higher ranked native matches.

Where can I find more information about how this gene was discovered? I've read the description on DNA Consultants' website but was wondering how many people actually have this gene?

Good evening, Raven,

I suggest you try an Internet search for other scientific articles. I found this one: http://dienekes.blogspot.com/2005/12/mt ... -lake.html .

I hope it helps.

I’m curious as to how many people on here found that they received the lake Baikal gene and if so what your known ethnicity is. This is coming from my dad’s side so I’m wondering if it’s deep Asian ancestry from mongol invasions of Europe. My dad has never tested so I don’t know if he has Native American or recent Asian ancestry( I highly doubt that).
