Do most people have at least one Native American marker? How common is it?

The Native American I marker is a stronger indication of ancestry and is less common. The Native American II marker is more common, occurring in close to or probably more than half the reports we process.

I received the more common marker- Native American ll. My mother received both na l and ll but she did not receive any southeast Asian Mongolian or East Asian matches and I did. I received matches to Siberian ( Mongol) Mongolia Korea Japan and Guam. I received an Asian lll marker and she did not. I also received a match to Guatemalan- mestizo and different Hispanic matches then my mom. So it seems that my dad gave me the asain matches which are probably false positives. I think the na ll from my mom is just a mixture of her Spanish and native roots but I believe my dad my have origins in either Mexico South America or Central America.

Thanks for your reply. I am so confused by this. It's hard trying to figure it all out. I tried to get a better picture through chromosome painting, but I ended up even more confused. It's just hard to believe that someone can have so many physical traits from an ethnicity but it not or barely shows up in the results.

If you give me your case # I can look it up and maybe be more definitive.
