I found out something interesting just now. This is for anyone with any knowledge of Cherokee genealogy- was Thomas Burden {born abt. 1764, in VA or NC and died in 1870 in Greens Fork, Randolph, Indiana} part Cherokee? This family was listed as mulatto.
His wife was named Priscilla Timbers.
One of his daughters was called Nancy "Cherokee" Burden and he himself was apparently listed as "Cherokee" on certain records. Does anyone know anything about if the Burden family had Cherokee roots?
Here's the link that makes the claims of Cherokee ancestry:

Re: Burden Family=Cherokee?
I asked Dr. Yates to research your question and he was not able to find references to the Burden name in the list of names compiled by Bob Blankenship, Cherokee Roots Vol 1 or 2.
